3 Career Planning Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

One day you wake up, get ready for work, and wonder how the heck did you get this stuck?  Is this all there is to my working life?  Is it really only Tuesday?  Ugh!  Being stuck and miserable in your job doesn’t have to happen.

In this session, you will learn to recognize three common career planning mistakes.  We will discuss and strategize solid career path planning so that you can confidently work toward that dream career!  Shift gears from “They can’t pay me enough to do this” to “I can’t believe they are paying me to do this!!”

Mary Parker, CPC, Leadership and Development Coach

Be Heard Even When You Whisper

Imagine if you believed the following: When you are driving your own career, you aren't allowing others to design the vehicle, the road, or the destination. Others get input and have perspective - with your permission.

In this session, you will be invited to believe it - at least a little bit more if not entirely. We will work toward getting that voice inside your head to move from critical toward insightful, discuss a framework to give your work a voice, and move fully into the driver seat for your career.

Let's talk about:

  • Declaring your best work

  • Naming the inner and outer doubts (and choosing a response)

  • Charging your voice's power source

Mindset Matters

Do you sometimes struggle with trying something new? Do you believe you were born with certain limitations, like not being good at math or drawing? If so, you might have a fixed mindset.

Carol Dweck, Professor of Psychology at Stanford University, is well–known for her work on “the fixed mindset vs. the growth mindset.” By understanding the difference between these two mindsets, you can positively impact your performance at school, work, and home.

At the end of this 25-minute virtual presentation, participants will be able to:

  • View challenges and obstacles differently.

  • Understand that the view they adopt for themselves profoundly affects the way they lead their lives.

  • Create action steps to get the results they want.
